My wife had a friend merge three images taken from a tripod into one. The result was kind of cool. She lost touch with him but I would like to try it myself. I am new to this kind of thing. I searched the forums quickly but couldn't find exactly what I needed. Here is the image that was done for me as a sample. How do you do something like this? When I try merging images I don't know how to get the differences in the pictures to show through. I am using Elements 6

I would use Layer Masks to cut holes in each image so the underlying image shows through.

Take a look at Auto Blend Layers in the help files.

I couldn't find anything in the help files for "auto blend layers". I don't think my version supports this feature. I did find a interesting way of doing it under new "photomerge group shot". I'm not sure this is the best way of doing it but it did work. I had to outline the portion of the second image that I wanted to insert in the background.
