Hi!
I am trying to change the color of the tshirt from white to wine red, but it is hard to make it look realistic with all the thin hair blending into the white tshirt. I have tryed a lot of coloring tutorials on the net, but the hair on the white background makes it harder to get right.

Any suggestions?

Hi Suzanne,

I don't know of any way to make it look perfectly natural. I gave it a quick try but it's especially hard working with a low resolution image like this. What I did was to combine two methods. First, I selected the white shirt area using Select > Color Range. Then I painted the selection with a brush in the 'Color' mode. That preserved a lot of the detail but left way too much white :-) Next, on a separate layer, I started all over again with a copy of the original. This time, I used a Selective Color adjustment layer. I made sure that 'Absolute' was checked then chose 'White' from the Colors menu and played with the sliders until I got something close to a light wine color. That was okay but seemed to remove a lot of the detail :-) Finally, I just blended the two attempts together and you can see the result below. The light colored hair does add to the problem but if you don't mind doing some touch-up work, I think the Selective Color adjustment might be worth playing with.

Hope this is a little helpful anyway :-)
