For the past week I have been trying to achieve the effect seen on this site

I have come pretty close but its not 100% and it is really starting to get under my skin.
Here are the steps I take
! open image and conver to LAB mode
2. adjust brightness and contrast of lightness channel
3.apply posterize adjustment to lightness channel with the value of 4
4. apply a gausian blur to lightness channel radisu between 3 and 2
5. apply posterize adjustment to lightness channel to seperate lights and darks
6. apply cut out filter on lightness channel setting vary between images.
7. apply paint duabs filter to lightness channel to smooth out the greys.
8. convert to rgb.
In the end I get something that looks like this.

its really really really really close but the process doesnt work on all images.
Any help would be much appreciated.

It's not going to work on all photos because all source photos are different
you need to tweak the source image before proceeding to step #1. |
