Hey. I've created two lines using the single row marquee tool with four buttons between them, it's going to be a menu. I used the layer style Gradient Overlay to make the lines fading out in the edges, but when I tried to crop one button I didn't think of that the lines will still be faded out wherever I crop. So I have to make the layers for the lines non-editable, but how can I do that? It's unfortunately not like a type/text layer where you can rasterize the layer to an image to make it non-editable. I use Photoshop CS3 Extended. |

I am not totally sure what you mean, but let me take a guess. I think what you may be looking for is a layer mask, the easiest way of applying it is at the bottom of the layers palette.
If I am mis-understanding then perhaps you want to combine your layers to make the layer style an intergral part of your layer/s. Ctrl+Shift+E with all layers you want combined visable.
If either suggestion is not what you needed, feel free to post pictures or more explanation.
