How can i scan something then work with it in photoshop and keep it exactly the same size?

Im doing it like a signature but its not a signature......

Im scanning it with a epson 4180 at 300dpi,

then opening photoshop and selecting it for work.

Next i use the magic wand, then i select inverse, copy and paste it into a new work selecting transparent.......

My problem is when im done its not exactly the same size anymore.....

Why does this happen?

thank you |

When you create the new document make sure that it's the same resolution and size as the original. |

Your post was about it being the same size, I think by that you mean pixels, or inches. Your new document should be the same dimensions (size) and resolution as the original. |

When you opened a new document (after inversing your selection on the original scanned image), the new document most likely opened up at a different defaulted resolution (probably 72 dpi instead of the 300 dpi you are looking for.)

When you open up your new empty document, do this:

1. Go to file/new...

2. Near the middle of the window that pops up, you'll see "Resolution:". Type in '300' in this window. It might have a number already there, but it doesn't matter. Erase it and type '300'.

3. Hit 'ok' in the upper-right hand window of this box and then paste in your image-- it should now be the same size, because both images (your scanned one and your new one) are both at a resolution of 300 dpi. |
