Hello, I'm new to photoshop and I made this image: http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr287/FlyingSheepNinja/Untitled.png

My question is, how do I get rid of the background and keep color effects? If I remove the background, my image turns to white as the color scheme seems to mold around it. I tried merging the layers but same effect, white.

Much obliged,
Sheep

Delete the background layer. If you are trying to maintain transparency, you'll need to save it as a png, or a gif.

Transparency is what I'm after, the problem is not that. The problem is the color.

Hold down the alt key and double click the BG layer to convert it to a normal layer. Now erase the BG.

Normally when we are removing a background we use our pen tool to trace
the image once complete you can goto your paths and select marquee which will then select the area you would then need to select inverse then delete the background.

This will give you a really sharp cut out and is much cleaner then using your eraser tool.

Hope this helps!

It seems one of your layers might have some different blending mode in it, and your "fire design" layer does not seem right it doesn't look like fire check your blending modes.. that's what changes a lot of stuff

Cheers
