I'm trying to go through this tutorial but I am stuck on Steps 6 and 7. Every time I alt-click the layer mask button for the curved line layer, it disappears instead of showing behind the original girl layer. Please help.

Yo, the line layer has to be at the bottom and make sure that the line layer is below the girls layer so that it looks like it's at the back, and now your layer disappears right that's because you see that your layer mask as gone black and that's why it disappears it has to be white, so just hit Ctl+I and it should invert it and then you'll see your line : )

Cheers

I did hit ctrl-I and that worked and also put layer at bottom. Now I can't seem to brush out the line on top of girl. I have the layer mask selected on the line layer. Is it because the orig layer is a smart layer? I posted a screenshot of my work.
