What do you mean by alpha image? What is the file type of this alpha image?

I think by alpha image he means the transparency of the original image has been saved to a different picture in the form of black and white. Its a technique used a lot in computer games and 3D modeling. Which is the only reason i know about this.

Im taking a guess that alpha image is really just another jpeg.

Open up the first image and select the channels tab next to layers. Create a new channel, this will appear as your alpha channel. Then the alpha image must be copied into this channel.
