I have invested a total of 15 hours on a graphic design project. I merged all the visible layers to adjust the size slightly and printed it out. I then saved the template by accident with the layers merged and I need to edit my layers. Is there anyway to undo this? I'm honestly stomach sick right now
Thanks

If you haven't closed the project, just go back in the history to before you merged the layers.

I felt sorry for you, so i started another thread somewhere else.

I would like to know about when you save a file, and then save over that same file with the same name, does it really save it on the same spot on the HDD.

answer was "It depends" etc. Lots of programs make a new file and delete the old one, so its still may be on the HDD, and only the address has been deleted.

I don't want to waste more of your time, but if your desperate, i would give file recovery a go.

*the post above was presuming you have closed photoshop since the problem occurred.

Sorry Confused if you've closed the file then it's gone.. but if the file is still open then you can go back to history and undo it...

If it makes you feel any better, I've done the same thing a lot of time in my photoshop profession.. I had worked on a file of a big client and the file was 3GBs and I by mistake closed the file and hit don' t save all my work was gone : ( ... but in your case at least your file is still there, you don't need to merge a file to print, and if still you want too then duplicate the file and then print and always keep saving after 5 mins ....

In future my advice would be to set a history state within your Photoshop file or to save files in a logical manner, with the help of file management software. Cold comfort now, I realise....

At least you saved it.

Anyone ever close something and hit "Don't Save"? That's always fun too.
