Im making some designs on photoshop to print onto t-shirts. I want to make a random border like for example the one i attached, but I need the border to be clear, instead of black or white, so I can print the image onto a t shirt without having a coloured border. I am completely lost as how to do this and cant find any tutorials about how to make a "clear" border. I have managed to make a clear border with the paintbrush tools, but cant figure out to do a border like the one I attached. Any advice?

If you add a layer mask channel and fill it with white, then apply a black border, only the white parts of the mask will show.

I used a rectangular mask in quick mask mode, then I used Filter->Pixelate->Crystalize to give the rough edge. You have to make the image a layer before you begin to get the transparent background.
