Photoshop is not really my thing but I need to flip some images as in the attachment to this post. Could some one on here explain to me how this is done?

Edit / Transform /Distort
Make sure that your layer is not locked. Background layers are by default locked and you can unlock them by double clicking on their thumbnail in the layers palette.

It does not allow me to do that with my picture. The option is greyed out in the menu.
Is there anything I need to do before I am able of doing it?

Ctrl+J and work on the newly created layer?
