Does anyone know of a plugin or 3rd party program that will ad more functionality to the preset manager? I have so many styles and I just would like some better way of organizing them all, and the preset manager is just a very basic tool.

Not that I know of or have heard, someone else here will pipe up though if they know of it.

If there is not a plugin or a 3rd party program using Scripts could the ability to append styles to Style Library be added to the program? Or is that out side the ability of PS scripting?

Unless I am not understanding you correctly what you want is already available in CS4. So long as all of your style files are stored in the PS presets/styles folder when you click the dropdown menu in the styles manager all your styles will be listed and then you just append the one you want to use.

Yeah there is a small misunderstanding. I think it is due to the way I define things.

If you look at your photo you will see the styles area that shows "small thumbnails" of all your styles. Then just to the right of that you will see the list of all style sets, or style libraries if you will, that you have in your presets folder.

I would like to be able to look at all my sets and pick out, oh say, all the "red" styles then make a new library for them all. Now that can be done right now but the problem arises when you need to add the "red" styles from different set, because it will over write the styles that are in the new "red" library.

Ahhh. I get what you are saying. Kinda like a thumbnail browser of all the individual styles. Let me know if you find a way to do it because I would certainly be interested in knowing if it can be done. You could do it by saving each individual style as an ASL file but that would take a while.

Maybe I can work out an action to do the appending because right now I have to do this...

1) open preset manager and select items
2) save as a new file
3) close the manager
3) replace style library with the one you would like to add the new styles to
4) load the new library
5) click append
6) save library
