I've got to design an ad for a jewellery company and I'm pretty much a photoshop newbie.

I'd like to make my picture look like a movie stills and was wondering what filters they were using to make these photos look like they do.

Any tips ? Tutorials ?

Cheers

You maybe need to post an example of what you are looking for.

Any random movie stills :

http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1540394496/tt1250777
http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1729727488/tt0903747
http://www.imdb.com/media/rm317820672/tt1279972

They have that sorta "fake" texture, don't really know how to describe it.

I'm pretty sure the picture didnt look like that when taken hence the photoshopping.
Do you understand what I mean ?

The thing these all have in common is high resolution and good studio lighting. The lighting can be achieved with photoshop to a point but the resolution will be dependant on where you get the image from. If you are going to use an image you have already then the res will be limited to whatever it is. If you are going to take a photo to use make sure your cameras res settings are at maximum quality.

Remember one thing these images are taken at a resolution suitable for viewing on a cinema screen and downsized to a photo so it will be hard to match but so long as the image you start with is good quality you should be able to mimic the effect.

The photo I have is highdef and was taken by a profesionnal (or almost) photographer (but the light was natural).

Any tutorials about the lighting effects ?

This ste probably explains things more clearly than I would. It is a good starting point anyway.
