That sounds like a silly question but here's what happened. I opened up a jpg from another source and went to edit it. Well I could do the basic editing but when I went to put words on it, it only writes in gray. I have changed the color thing on the side, the top and the other side and get nothing more than gray. Help?

Try... Image > Mode > RGB colour.
