Please help -pasting text as a Shape Layer

Hello, I created some text in the Illustrator CS5 and then want to copy and paste it as a Shape Layer to Photoshop. When I click on paste as a shaper layer, a shape layer appears but there is no text on it. Could anyone give me a hint on what I am doing wrong? Has anybody here had the similar problem? Thank you very much
