I need to submit an animated gif that I have created in Image Ready. When I test the file within Image Ready using the "preview in safari" button in the tool bar everything works great. Safari opens, displays the gif image and curiously, some associated HTML code.

When I "Save as Optimized" and select image (gif) I end up with an animated gif file that plays correctly in any browser, but has lost the url link (clickability) that I set up using a slice.

What am I doing wrong. How are such animated files typically saved and submitted? Do you select "Images and HTML" when saving as optimized and then submit both to the website? Thanks in advance.

Are you opening a webpage or just the .gif file by itself?

The linking is part of the html and not the gif.

"Images and HTML" will save a premade webpage that displays your gif and automatically applies the linking property to it. (It will also save your gif file separately)

There is no way to keep a link inside the gif file so that each time it is uploaded onto a different webpage it would work as a link. Each page would have to be coded individually.

You are better off keeping the gif file you have and coding the link separately in html. This way you have total flexibility with your work and don't have to rely on photoshops often lackluster html.
