hi everybody.
Could somebody tell me how they make a composing looks more realistic and not like a patchwork.
In the movie "The Last Cause" after 00:17 you see how a patchwork goes into a real picture.

How can I do that with Photoshop?
Thank you for any help.

Important things are..
Lighting: Make sure lights come from the right direction, match the background.
Shadows: Same as above.
Brightness: Kind of lighting again, make sure highlights, mid and shadows match. Some images will have pure black shadows and others will have dark gray.
Saturation: Most pictures from an average digital camera will be quite desaturated compared with a studio shot stock image.
Noise and Blur: Similar to above, if you get a noisy image or one that's blurred, you have to match it on each added object/layer.
Edges: Masking and cutting out artwork, the edges will be sharper closer to the camera, less so further back. This also ties in with blur as the edges are lost due to motion.
Cool or Warm: Most images seem to be one or the other.
Size: Pretty obvious, make sure items don't look unusually large or small. And that the perspective matches.
Practice: It helps
That's just all i can think of for now. Sometimes it helps to have other people critique your work. They haven't been working on it for hours and can pick things out straight away that don't look right. |

That shot was a layer build-up from individual renders taken from whatever 3d program they made their assets in. They were then assembled in Photoshop and had the blend modes and transparencies tweaked until the artist was happy with it. Then it was overlayed on the background image and i'll go out on a limb and say the animation composite was probably done in AE. _________________ twitter @4DragonsMedia |
