Hi, I'm pretty much a noob at photoshop, I've been watching/doing tutorials for weeks. What bothers me is.. is it worth it? What do you get out of it? (sorry if stupid question, just really need to know for sure from an expert). I really like digital work in photoshop and I want to get better and better but first I need to know what do you do with it? Help really appreciated, thanks.
Edit: thanks for the answers but I should also add if you can make money out of photoshop? What jobs are there? How are they paid?

What you do with it is up to you.
Edit photographs, create digital art, logos, banners, websites, restore old photos, gif animations, business cards, advertising layouts, collages, posters...etc. |

What do you do with a notebook and pen? Or with a box of paints? Or with a camera? Or with a computer, for that matter. Answer is everything or nothing.
Photoshop can do a lot, from fixing up an underexposed image of your cat, to creating a fake picture of a Hollywood star coming out of the local hairdressers (just open any of those magazines). Or you can restore a precious old photo. Or you can create a wonderful artwork to express whatever you like. But it has to take a bit of work.
On the other hand, many people live happy and successful lives without even knowing that Photoshop exists. Some of them even take good photos.
Oh, and it's not a "stupid question", but then again, I'm not an "expert" ' ' |

Its worth it if you enjoy it like a creative hobby.
I'm guessing since you have watched videos that you have interest in what Photoshop can create. |

Digital Painting in Photoshop is a special sub-class of Photoshop user that uses a graphic tablet and pressure sensitive pen to create works of art from nothing or just a few pose references. Most Photoshopping is done at the Photo Manipulation or Photo Retouch level that is used in the advertising, fashion and printing industries. Digital Painters tend to find work in Video Game Concept Art, Film Background Replacement (Matte Painting) and in Advertising. Either way there are a million ways to make money from Photoshop and I don't care what country you're in.
If you're good, people need you to help them. _________________ twitter @4DragonsMedia |

If your asking this question then PS probably isn't for you, you have to want to learn, you have to be interested enough or there's no point starting.
Most people here that are up to a standard love Photoshop and have always loved it even when they're not being paid to use it! _________________ Lee |

For your info, I DO want to learn, but like any normal human being I would like to know if my learning would or would not be useless. |
