I have been making movie posters lately and I have been wanting to add more character to them. Well I see I can download textures, but I would like to learn how to make my own and I am having a hard time finding a tutorial. I was wondering if anyone on here could provide me with a decent tutorial or a link. I want to learn how to give a vintage worn look to the paper.

There are a host of resources out there and nothing says old paper, like old paper, I would be more tempted to manipulate and combine actual paper from the already considerable resources on the web, or create my own, with cups of tea and distressing.

Find stock sites that you can plunder and Google images, anything from burnt edges to creases and rust textures can be used with a smattering of blend modes and opacity to create what you want.

Here's a tutorial I dug up to start from scratch, in my opinion the problem with it is that it produces a formulaic 'out of the box' effect Paper Tutorial

You could take your digital camera, go out and shoot some images of different textures, leather, carpet, wood etc, this will give you a portion of unique textures.

I have been thinking of doing it for a while, but never got the time yet.
