So I'm trying to merge color balance and brightness/contrast adjustment layers with a brush layer. The mushroom cloud brush is painted on in white and I used the color balance to make it seem like it's a fireball. The problem I run into is that when I go to merge so the Color balance won't affect the rest of my picture is the brush goes back to white. It's as though the color balance was never applied. Sorry if this seems confusing if necessary I can post screenshots to make it easier.

Really appreciate any help in advance!

Probably best to post screenshots.

If Color Balance is effecting your other layers, make a folder in the layers tab, change the folders blending mode from pass through to normal and place the mushroom cloud layer and color balance inside the folder.
