Hello, I am new here ;pp I have a question for you. I am a big fan of manga and anime and some time ago I decided to play with GIMP and colour manga, but it was a simple process like: layer --> colour --> rubber, layer --> colour --> rubber etc. Few days ago I saw a great coloured picture from manga and thought: "Yeah! That's what I want to do!". I'm not sure which style is it and didn't find an answer to my question. Basically, I would like to know how to change this

into this:

Do I need vector style programs like Inkscape? Or PS or GIMP would be enough? |

The image you provided took 7 hours in photoshop according to the artist.
So a lot of work involved.
It looks like a complete retrace and colour to me, photoshop or gimp should both be able to do the job using paths(pen tool)
A vector program could be helpful to do the initial tracing with however it is not necessary and the artist makes no mention of anything besides photoshop.
If you really like this type of thing you should consider buying a wacom as it improve work-flow. |
