Hi - I thought i was more or less ok at photoshop! However - a friend of mine has asked me to do her a bit of work with a particular theme. Transparent text - No problem - I can hanldle that easy! BUT!

She wants the picture in the large text to be like the original photograph. with the rest of the photograph in a kind of sepia effect - the attached picture is more or less what she had in mind. I have have been at it for two days - studies lots of tutorials on youtube and it seems to escape me - Any help much appreciated -

Thanks in advance

				hi,

now not quite sure how much of the image to be serpia...

but if it thewhole image... how about just a simple serpa fill layer and adjust the opacity or color adjustment layer with serpica...oir add a layer style>color overlay ... different ways to do it....

don'tknowif your interested but there a post on similar subj of transparent letters which you might be interested in.... it in gneral photoshop and design discussion board.. topic create text from game logo ..

Tried overlays and tried of course they work but by having the two layers the transparency only goes through one layer - If I turn the picture sepia then I can only make the text transparent with only sepia as the background - thanks anyway - so frustrating!

It's a black and white photo with a solid layer of beige set to screen at an opacity I don't care to guess at with type selection tool knocked out of it to reveal photo.

				hi,

been re reading the post and see if i understands...

basically you want the picture that showing thru be untouched but everything else has a serpeia tone...

now i don't know how you got your layers setup..and that sort of important because that depends on where things are inserted... but

but just using the image youposted....

I dup image,

iselected the outline of the text... and i applyed a layer

i then deselected the mask and painted.... now that left the image within the text untouched....

another variation... dup, select outline of text and then a color adjustment layer and pick color... a mask is automatically created
