|
|
I just finished my thirty days with Photoshop CS6 beta. Was thinking of purchasing it but when I go to Adobe to purchase, the multiplicity of offerings is very confusing. As I understand it, Photoshop CS6 Extended costs $999.99. Also, After Effects costs $999.99, My question (probably a stupid one) is: Does After Effects include Photoshop CS6 or will it cost me nearly $2,000.00 for both software packages?javascript:emoticon(' ') |

Big bucks for both I'm afraid.
What's your location and could you qualify for the educational versions? Could you upgrade? _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

I don't know of I qualify for an educational discount but I did teach computer graphics at university for 10 years. I have been retired for 15 years and am no longer affiliated with a university. How do I find out if I quality?
I live in Gordonsville, VA near Charlottesville, VA. |

Hello mamoose124,
If you have a fast internet connection, you could theoretically save money by using the Creative Cloud: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html?promoid=JQPEQ
It gives you access to all of Adobe's applications for $49.99 a month if you commit to a yearly subscription. At the prices you quoted, that would be 40 months of subscription and you'd get access to way more than just Photoshop and After Effects. Furthermore, it includes all upgrades, new versions, etc.
Alternatively, you can subscribe to just Photoshop for $19.99 a month (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/buying-guide-subscriptions.html) and/or just After Effects for the same amount http://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/buying-guide-subscriptions.html). Or $29.99 a month if you want to commit on a month by month basis.
Downside, of course, is that if you stop paying you no longer have the software. But you can always subscribe again.
Just an idea. Best of luck.
Thanks,

I thought about that but I'm on hughes.net satellite so while it is better than dial-up I get penalized if I download too much and have to purchase "chits" to download more than my daily quota. So, I doubt that the Cloud would be a economic alternative for me. |
