Hi - I'm a total newbie and am just starting to work through some exercises to teach myself Photoshop 7. My aim is to remove a person from a source photo to another photo - the destination photo. Once I do the masking routine and the person is ready to move of course I need to scale her. My problem lies in scaling her down with Free Transform. I have tried doing this in both the source and destination photos but the result is the same. I also have both photos at the same resolution (does this really matter?).
What happens is that the box and handles that appears around the person when I employ Free Transform is also transported across to the destination photo - this cannot be seen on a dark background but is definitely noticeable on a light background. If I simply mask and move the person to the destination photo without resizing her there is no problem at all.
Any ideas on why this should be happening anyone?

For anyone else with this problem I was able to solve this by using the masking procedure again on the new photo to paint out the bounding box edges. |

why not use your mask to create a selection and then layer via copy. simple drag the layer to your new document. i'm not really familiar with your method of masking. I do a ton of manipulation involving moving people from one photo to another, or taking heads with the eyes open and putting in ones with the eyes closed. I use selection tools, extract filter, background eraser, and various other techniques together. I've found that to get a really good selection, you've usually got to use more than one technique. |
