Problem: images of various small items were photographed with a camera tethered straight to an Apple laptop and photo shopped, including cutting paths. PS version is CS6 and we've saved them at 2400x2400 in Jpeg. (I realise TIFF is probably better but our user needs them in Jpeg).

They’ve been saved for several months and in that time moved from the laptop to a hard drive. On checking them now I find that around two thirds have some sort of spontaneous changes to the clipping paths. Some paths have shrunk or expanded so they no longer fit the item and some have just gone crazy, zigzagging across the whole image and just touching the edge of the item somewhere.

Any ideas about what could have caused this or how to correct it without having to re-do each one?
