I am using CS5 and I am having trouble getting the "Adjustments" tab to pop up so I can do B&W. When I go to "Window", the adjustments is checked. When I uncheck it all panels disappear. When I re-check it, all the other panels that I use pop up but still no "Adjustments" tab. What am I doing wrong.

You can access adjustment layers by clicking the icon at the bottom of the layers palette.

Thanks hawkeye. I have done that. I will click on the new adjustment layers icon then select black and white. When that layer appears I then click on the round new layer icon beside the white box and nothing appears. No adjustments tab at all. It works just fine on our computer at work but its a no go on mine at home.

"I then click on the round new layer icon beside the white box"

I have no idea what this means. A screenshot would help.

The yellow highlighted icon in the "black and white" adjustment layer is the one that's double clicked to bring up the adjustments panel. It works fine on mine at work but doesn't at home.

Check to make sure that the Properties panel is checked under the Window menu.

I'm using CS6 but I'm certain it would be the same on CS5. You might want to try deleting the preferences file. That has been known to correct some strange PS behavior. If that doesn't work, you may need to do a reinstall.

How to reset Photoshop preferences (In Windows):
First, hold down all three Ctrl+Alt+Shift buttons
Now "while keeping those button held," simply open Photoshop or a file that opens with Photoshop
As Photoshop loads, you should get a prompt asking if you would like to "delete the Photoshop settings file", Click yes

On a Mac, hold Command+Option+Shift while starting Photoshop to delete the preferences

I will check that on my computer when I go home. There is no listing for properties in the work computer (CS5.1) either.
