Hello

I wondered if anyone would care to pass any comments on these two endeavours? One of them will form the basis of the 'banner' on a (demo) Chinese restaurant Web page.

http://www.bayingwolf.com/screen100.png

http://www.bayingwolf.com/colourburn40.png

These are my first attempts, and it doesn't matter if you rip them apart: colour scheme; type-size; panda size and placement; background colour and texture, etc.

I intend to place two small colour images, one of a Chinese chef in the kitchen, and another of a dish of chop-suey or something colourful, in the middle (to the right of the bear).

My own concern is that the panda looks a little imprisoned by the Chinese and English texts - not sure if anyone agrees?. On the other hand, I need to keep the two texts together - one is a translation of the other. Another preoccupation is what Web page background colour would go with that shade of green - as I indicate, it doesn't need to be green.

I am open to all ideas and criticism!

Many thanks. |

 2nd one looks better (colourburn40).

Edges of your fonts need better anti aliasing.

You don't necessarily need to have a Asian looking font for English words.

Right side of the panda looks a bit funny how it has been cut off.

Take a look at what other Chinese restaurants are doing in the way of graphic design (using google) and get some inspiration from them. |

 Hello Auieos

Thanks for your reply.

Does the attached look any better. I have not done anything in terms of anti-aliasing (it's something I know little about) and I had already completed this

http://www.bayingwolf.com/PandaFinal.png before I read your message.

However, if you think it will improve the text, I am happy to go back to the drawing-board.

The image is for a demo Web site aimed at attracting English/Chinese restaurant-goers, so I thought I would stick to a stereotypical font face.

I think I have managed to hide the right-side of the panda, though maybe it still looks amateurish?

Thanks again.

Looks much better. Nice improvement. Typeface still bothers me

Current trends in graphic design tend to be clean & flat/matt.

You don't have to be a drone but you don't want to be too far away from what people are used to either if this is to attract clients.

Again I recommend looking at what other people are doing. Google images "Chinese restaurant graphic design". |
