Hi I was just wondering how you add all the background effects on this image I know how to use the HDR effect on the player but how do you had the stars around the player and the other effects thank you!

Photoshop has the same star brushes that this image uses, just load them in from Photoshop Brush Panel. As for the 'fairy dust' effects just choose a small soft brush and a scatter brush and waft them around the canvas, you can use size jitter too to vary the effect. I guess the rest is a case of either duplicating some layers and choosing blend modes and fx, like outer glow and the like. Experiment and go crazy!
