Is anyone using Photoshop CC where you pay $10 a month?

I'd like to hear about whether you think it's worth it or if you're just doing it because there's no other choice.

And does Adobe keep updating that online version of Photoshop? They must, eh?

I'm thinking of going to it; I'm using Elements at the present.

Wow! 36 views and zero replies.

I'm going to assume that means NOBODY is using the subscription version of Photoshop, eh?

I guess that answers my question of whether or not it's worth it.

Hello bandonandy,

I'm not sure how much I would glean from the lack of replies. :) Certainly, tons of people are using CC as it is the way to use the current version of Photoshop.

To answer your question about updates, yes, Adobe is updating the software. You can view the update history here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Photoshop_version_history#CC_.2814.0.29

CC was released on June 17, 2013 and so far, has been updated 3 times as far as major revisions go. They also do smaller updates as you can see here.

Thanks,

Patrick

Thanks for the reply Patrick. Those update pages are pretty interesting.

My thought on the purchase of CC was that if I had recently bought Photoshop CS6 and paid a lot of money for it, I'd probably keep using it for a few years to justify that expense.

Sales of CC would be interesting; I can surely see what Adobe is doing. Plenty of people wouldn't mind paying $10 a month for something. But those same people might balk at shelling out $800 for a one-time purchase.

It's probably surprising that they didn't do this sooner.

I have updated Photoshop regularly since version 3, however I am not a fan of the subscription version, for reasons I won't bore everyone who has argued the toss ad infinitum with. So I stick at the moment with CS6, but accept that eventually with further upgrades and no support for the version I use, eventually I will probably have to change to the new model of renting.

I think there are a lot of people who are doing the same thing as you, Hermit.

I'm sure Adobe will see profits increase with the subscription scheme.

(Is that a publicly traded company? Might be interesting to watch their earnings reports.)

Sure thing, bandonandy. :) Adobe is a publicly traded company, yes. They trade under ADBE on NASDAQ.

Hi Patrick, I looked up the Adobe 10K annual report for last year and found this:

"We believe our Creative Cloud offering, marketed as a subscription model with attractive monthly pricing, will be a catalyst
for revenue growth in the coming years. We also believe the monthly subscription pricing model will be attractive to users of older
versions of our products who desire to use our latest releases and services, but who have not been willing to upgrade to newer
versions due to price sensitivity."

Maybe it's time to buy ADBE.
