In MS paint there is a method whereby if you have a curved line, you can hold shift and drag it (while transparency is enabled) and it basically makes a path of that line and it's colors.

I want to do something similar in photoshop. I have a line (one pixel thick) and I want to stretch it so that the colors of the line fill the canvas.

Here's a picture to give an example of what I mean:
