I have a problem. I want to export the photo in the link below. I have "lassoed it" with the magnetic lasso tool, and it is cut the way I want it. When I try and copy and paste it or save and open into M$ word 07, it has an obtrusive white background attached to it, which isn't there when it is into my Photoshop CS4. I wanna import it into word exactly how it is in CS4, lassoed and everything.

If anyone needs clarification, just ask.

One of the photos, lassoed

My lasso line around the aforementioned photo

Another photo, lassoed

The image taken out of the picture

What happens when I try to import it to word. Note the white

You need to save the image out as a PNG and then import that into your word document.

The reason you get the white background fill is because it copies the layer into Word as a jpg. PNG has transparency, which will allow the red background to be shown.

Ok, tried that. When I imported it through word, it still had the white bg.

When you saved as PNG was there only one layer, or was there a white background layer?

There was only one layer. Why is there a hidden white layer?

No, no hidden layer.

Ok, try this:

1. Select and cut out your guy with the gun onto a new layer.
2. Show only that layer (so make sure that's the only one in your layers panel with an eye next to it)
3. Go to File > Save for Web & Devices
4. Select PNG-24 from the drop down (top right)
5. Save you image with .png extension
6. Open up Word
7. Select insert shape
8. Select rectangle
9. Colour rectangle something other than white
10. Insert image (point to your saved png)
11. Move image over rectangle, check for no white.

Waves.

1. delete white bg layer
2. save as a compuserve gif or GIF
3. make sure transperancy is checked!
4. save your image and open in word
