hi,
i was wondering if anyone can help me, for a couple of years i have worked cutting images out so that they are on a white background.
The method i use is a layer mask with a white layer underneath once i have cut the object out i usually crop in on the object but this seems to leave about a pixel that is not masked around the edge.
has anyone experienced this and does anyone have a solution?

thanks in advance
kai

Anything set to feather? If so, that could be it.

Also depends on how you're filling in your layer mask. (i.e. using a feathered marque tool.)

I display the layer mask by itself, use the magic wand to select the area I want to fill, then I have an action that expands the selection a few pixels at a time to "creep" into the outline. The key is it also creeps outside the image edges. Fill and clean up anything that didn't get selected.

nope pretty sure you cant feather a crop but i guess its abit like it is feathering the crop but only on the layer mask i dunno its very annoying slows the workflow down considerably

Yeah. I just tried. Thought because you get marching ants when you crop, maybe the selection tools had something to do with it.
