I create a new canvas, with a white background and RGB color. I go to use my rectangle tool (AKA rounded rectangle, line, and ellipse tool) I can draw the shape but it does not create a new layer for me to edit. It just creates lines on the canvas. how do i create shape layers in photoshop? |

You have to create the new layer, the tool doesn't do it for you, with the exception of the text tool which does.
Oops, thought you meant the marque tool. Nevermind...

Hi slys544,
Sounds like you have "Paths" selected instead of "Shape Layers" on the left side of the options bar. Check it out. |
