When usine refine edge it works at times and sometimes it makes the edge opaque and at other times it does nothing. I am obiously doing something inconsistent, but cannont figure out what. Any Ideas??????

Hi there,

Are you using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements?

Are both of your examples selected around the exterior of the shape. If the whole layer is active (or selected) it could be that Photoshop is trying to refine the edge of the entire layer rather than the shape?

Matt

hi,
it always help to know what version of ps you have..

soundslike you maybe overdoing it.... it hard to say at what step it being done since all those slider sort of interact with each other.... generally you make small increments untill you get what yo want ... anyway

what sometimes works better for me is make a mask and then do a refine mask (that using your refine edge tools ...

also what you might looks at...
is these two turorials....

this is a very good tutorial covers a lot of items with the refine tool ...
