I've been playing with Photoshop for a long time and have started to get serious with it but i'm having major issues with more than the rounded rectangle tools. It's basically just everything about having a much shrper output that never seems to happen.

Firstly about the rounded rectangle tool. Why do my corners never be rounded unless I draw a small rectangle that is not the size I want it to be?

Then secondly why is everything I do so unsharp looking.

I thought this stuff should come natural to PS but obviously not?

Thanks

For any tool, always check the options at the top of the window. Note that you can set the radius of the corners.

Thanks but I don't see anti alias on mine.

I'm on CS4

Is it elsewhere on the screen?

Make sure that you are on the Fill Pixels part not Path or Shape Layer, you should see the anti-alias check box then.

Check dennisv's screen shot for confirmation, it's the three buttons on the left.
