The eyedropper tool in Photoshop allows you to 'lift' the color values of any pixel inside an open document, but did you know it also permits you to select colors from anywhere on the computer screen? If you want to know how, read on.
Selecting colors in the regular way is just a matter of clicking, but if you click and drag with the tool you'll be able to move into the panels, into the title bar, and even into other open browsers and applications. This little trick comes in really handy when trying to match colors from the web, and means you don't have to go through the process of taking a screenshot and copying it into Photoshop.
Another hint, if you are trying to copy colors from another application, allocate half the screen to Photoshop, and half to the other software, and you'll find dragging the mouse around a lot easier.
