First, open a new document. I used 400x150 with a white background.

1. Press D to reset your colors, then go to filter/render/lighting effects. Light type: spotlight with the rest default. Make it so that the bottom left corner and the top right corner are darker then the rest.

2. Filter/distort/ocean ripple. Ripple size: 15. Ripple magnitude: 20.

3. Filter/stylize/glowing edges. Edge width: 14. Edge brightness: 6. Smoothness: 6.

4. Get out the brush tool and set it to multiply, opacity 100% and flow 100%.

With an image and some tweaks, this is what I came up with:

i didnt manage todo what you have to do after the brush tool -> multiply -> 100% and 100%

what do you have to do when its set to that?

anyway i used a new layer for color: i made this

I think the way he colored it is by making a new layer full of the overall color that you want (fill tool). then make the opacity like 30 - 50 percent... That way, the spaces that are white will get colored in as well...

I am BRAND NEW with this software. I have done some very limited photo editing but with some online tools but this is my first time doing anything with CS3. I just got the program 2 days ago!!

Here's what I came up with on this tutorial:

This was a wonderful easy to do tutorial for a newb like me...thanks a ton. looking for more like these. Now I won't have to copy others' signatures..lol!
