I want to simulate streaks of sun light coming through a window, painting in white, low opacity. How do I smoothly expand the brush size as I paint for a more realistic look. For example, starting at 25px and expanding to 65px at the end point? Brush type? Settings? Help! Eek

Use a layer mask rather than try to do it freehand on the layer

Yes, tried that. I paint on a layer mask, but it is the gradual, even expansion that I am really looking for...thank you for your response nonetheless. FYI, on a Mac this can be done by holding the 'shift' at the start of the stroke, hold left mouse throughout, and letting the shift key go at the end, nice smooth expansion. But that does not work in Windows.

Anyone else have ideas? Confused
