Well at least we'd have uniformity... After we all have the same browser we could hit JCPennies and start wearing the same clothes too. Like some advanced alien race that figured out one standard browser is the way to go.

It really depends on what you wish to do IMO....CSS is good for placing certain elements where you want them (Such as placing web templates or elements thereof), but tables are better for setting mass pieces of data in one structure (I.E. a lot of thumbnails etc.)...
