I've noticed that when I capture a still from Power DVD and print it out AS IS there is a loss of luminosity...I understand that this is result of how things are displayed through a TV and monitor....and I'm no longer looking at this image with light cast behind it....now it's ink on paper...what kinds of adjustments can I make?

...a few day's later I played with the levels and found satisfactory results...I would still appreciate hearing alternative approaches...thanks.
