I'm making a Map and Button for my website.

The map needs to be outlined in a black line. I've done it once but for the life of me can not remember how.
the second thing is how do i make a button like this, where the edges look like they have shadow.

Welcome to the forum. Layer palette FX button, bevel and emboss.

I think thehermit means the "fx" button at the bottom of the layers panel. Check that you have the layers panel available (if not, see window>layers).

Once you have the Layers panel visible, click on the layer that you want to add the effect to. Then click on the fx button at the bottom. A box will come up. Have a look at the 'bevel and emboss' option and see if it does what you want.

Some of the other effects might suit you as well. For example, "stroke" will surround your layer with a line in the color and thickness of your choosing.

Hope that helps.
