Hey guys, if anyone could help me out with this, it would be most awesome..
I have a photo of a PALE person taken in PALE lighting, and i need to make them look SIGNIFICANTLY tanned.. i've tried a couple methods and they don't seem to be heavy duty enough.. is there any way i can achieve this look (without washing out all of the details in the face) and have it be believable... ??

I'll attach the photo..

thanks so much for any info!

dan

Just a quick job,the hair over eyes is not quite right but a simple "quick mask" then "curves" adjustment seems to get the desired effect

There are a million and one ways - none of them generally used in isolation.

Curves, like Iain suggest is probably one of the most powerful, but can be difficult to master if you are unfamiliar with them. Adjustment layers like selective colour and hue/sat and colour balance and finally channel mixer. All of these can be harnessed to get the right result.

Another option and probably best used alongside the above options is the underused tool or Image>Adjustments>Variations. With delicate handling this can produce some powerful results, even better when then tempered with an adjustment layer.

One more note, a stamped layer set to b&w and set to overlay blend mode, can increase the effect (or preferred blend mode). Also changing the colour of your sweatshirt to a complimentary colour would emphasize the skin colour (so blue in this example). My effort is a little overdone to emphasize.
