Id like to ask some questions for a change if I may.
I'm currently using Wordpress for my website and, while I do like what Wordpress offers, I would prefer to design the site myself using a PSD that I create. Of course, creating a Wordpress theme from a PSD is not quite so simple, which is why some people make good money to do it for you. My question is, would I have better luck turning my PSD into a webpage for something else besides Wordpress? Back in the day, you could simply slice a page into images and create some HTML and you were done. Wordpress has specific CSS files that need to be made in addition to HTML files. Sheesh...what a pain!
I do have an older copy of Dreamweaver around somewhere...maybe I can use that too. I just don't quite know where to start. Anyone have any experience tackling this? _________________ http://www.jmerrittphotorestoration.com/ |

Would have to say yes. Wordpress isn't the easiest route.
Choosing the 'html and images' option from inside phototshop will create a tabled page.
Im pretty sure you can get photoshop to save to divs (css) rather than tables.
Having said that i wouldn't trust it with the code. |

Alright. I was under the assumption that tabled pages were pretty much obsolete these days. Are they making a comeback like bell bottom jeans?
I did slice my psd into images and was able to get CSS and html both, but it isnt setup right for Wordpress...you have to edit all the code and separate everythign out into its respective .css files. I do like Wordpress in that I can log in, type some text or post an image and its on my site right away. Its super easy. Maybe I'll just pay someone to do it. _________________ http://www.jmerrittphotorestoration.com/ |

They are a bit old but you can still use them
I like the idea of wordpress for same reason as you. You can see the obvious ease of which wp users change their content.
Patrick must know a fair bit about webpage construction. Wonder if he knows anything / give some tips about it.
oh and this is my favorite css site

Hey guys,
I guess it depends on the type of website you are creating, how much content there will be, etc. When you use a CMS, like WordPress, you are receiving a lot of benefits that you don't have with a static website and then, part of the trade off (if you look at it like that), is that you have to work with the system.
In the case of WordPress, it has a theme system. Yeah, you have to style it, but like anything else, you just have to learn how to do it and how it make it work. And even if you don't know, you can play around with it to get your one website together on it. Or you can pay someone.
Thanks,
