Omg seriously? I'll investigate a bit further bc that pretty much sucks. (No offense)

EDIT:

Wow it's true lol. Look at the work area of this dude: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oODk-B-ZV6E

It's not that bad seeing that the window where your work is has a grey part behind it, so you can probably maximize it somehow.

Anyways, try going Edit>Preferences and see if you can do something there.

Your screen shot is exactly what i get when i open ps on my mac, but of course when i open a file from the file menu or other ways of opening a file then the file/image will show with the desktop in the background.

somehow i don't believe you mean this, can you not open anything in ps?

Thanks for all your help. I can open a file no problem and work on it fine. It is just a bit of a pain, if I accidently click on the back ground it minimizes PS. Not a big issue, Just wondering if there was a setting to fix it. Again thanks for everyones help.

No thats normal procedure on the mac i used to have a pc until the middle of last year you soon get used to it & now i prefer it.

if you accidently click on the desktop your open file should still be there, just click on the image & ps will be active again. the same goes for all programs on a mac.
