Hey all,
It's been a few months since the release of Photoshop CS4 so I was just wondering how folks who are using it are getting along with it? What are the features you bought it for? and if you didn't buy it, what stopped you?
I'd be interested to hear your comments!

I'm still on the fence about the changes in the tabbed documents. Kind of not favoring it.
Everything else is an improvement in my eyes 
I would advice you against it if you already have CS3 though, Just not enough to warrant the purchase

Completely agree with you eSem, I think the new features in CS4 don't compensate for the cost of upgrading, although I probably will now Christmas has passed. One feature stands out for me, and makes me want it, and that's the smooth zooming on images.....not something I can't live without, but impressive and helpful nonetheless.

I love CS4.
For me it is the ability to use all of my ram, 16gb, in a x64 vista environment.
Wow, it's much faster than cs3. All the zooms and gpu enhancements are nifty. Especially the birds eye view (h and click).....
Things like the content sensitive transform is flawed - not ready yet and the rotation on my 6d art marker doesn't work in cs4.....
Just being able to load/save a 10gb file in <2/3mins ( it used to be 10/15mins -lots of tea breaks ) and to work on it smoothly is more than enough to keep me happy.
If you work big. there's no other option. |

Because of my problem with file compression (see my post) I'm really regretting my decision to lay down $200. At this point, I say don't buy it. |

Do your jpeg's loose quality with 30-40% size reduction.
Try saving them without 'save for web' or to a png to see if that makes a difference.
However, if your files sizes are smaller without quality loss then that's a GOOD thing..isn't it? as the target for these are usually web based. |

I'm not saving for the web. I often shoot for Getty Images and want to ftp files appropriate for print usage. I'm really disappointed with CS4; I'll update if/when I get the problem resolved. I'm wondering if I can get my $199 back. |

Couldn't solve problem; getting a refund. Really disappointed with Adobe. Back to CS2. |

Why are you using Jpegs for print. The file compression is not good for that kind of output.
You should be using uncompressed tiffs or native PSD or PSB files. |
