I have a pattern I have created. I would like to add a piece of wood behind this pattern to give it some dimension how do I add it and have it show through the pattern? TIA!

maybe put the wood layer below the pattern layer, and turn the pattern layer blend mode to "multiply" this will "burn" the pattern into the wood,

or try the "overlay" blend mode, that will work well also
