Make a selection with the circular marquee tool and then use select/inverse and press the delete key on your keyboard.
No more corners.

Press ctrl D to remove the marching ants.
You should then have the circle on a transparent background.
If you want to animate it you can save it as a GIF.

thats wer i was going wrong. using a black background like the tutorial told me too for the circular button thing i made. heres a quick mock up of wot i am trying to achieve .thanks again ,
onother quick question tho . when i go to rotate the image the transperent square box gets bigger. hence the lil left movement of the spinning.
how do i keep it centralised. ??

Almost there .
Im not sure Im understanding you correctly but you shouldnt be rotating the transparent square box, just the button.
Select the button and rotate that.

You want a transparent background with your button sat on it.
When you press ctrl T in animator the button should be selected for rotation.
Is that so?

Make sure the transparent square has NO marching ants around it, ie deselected, then press the shortcut ctrl T.
This will select only the button.

am not using the animator on photoshop am using a different program for that. so i was just rotating it and saving it then uploading the frames to the other program ,.
but am still not working out how i get just the button to show without the layer corners showing too .i have used my elipitical tool .selected button and got marching ants round it .then i did the inverse thing. but wen i press delete it dosnt seem to do anything. so i still have the corners. so i think its that part that am getting stuck on,
