Hi all (waves...)
I participate in a site where there are often contests related to themes that involve creating fake popup ads, error messages, Facebook pages, etc., etc., etc.... I'm sure y'all get the idea. I've tried to do some of these, and I think that the results aren't awful... but they don't really seem to be all that great, either.
There are wireframe sets out there for Android and Ipad interfaces and so forth (making it easy to download and use all the little individual pieces), but something like a Windows error message is clearly going to be a proprietary format. However, the entire point of these finished works is that they're parody and satire, so they do fall under fair use and there are no issues with copyright.
There are ways to generate error messages with coding, but it definitely doesn't work to just do a screenshot (it's tiny and impossible to see in the 550 px wide format we all need to use.) And anyway, that doesn't address the problem of faking Facebook pages, Twitter feeds, popups, etc. What I've been doing is copying error messages and so forth and then enlarging them, playing with layers, adding much larger text, and that type of thing. I'm just never really happy with the results. What everyone else is doing on that site seems to look better, and it CAN'T be that hard to do. Many people are doing this whose PS work isn't any better than mine!
So does anybody have any ideas for improvement? Thanks in advance!
P.S.: I do NOT want anyone to do this for me-- just some advice/suggestions. _________________ Happiness is three kinds of ice cream. |
