hello,

thanks for your help - i know it takes a while screenshotting and things - so thanks!

setting it to fill, fills the selection with a color so that doesnt work.

all i want to do is make a rounded rectangle selection from a square photo, copy the selection, then paste it and not have the edges be blurry.

the thing that i really need to know is what to turn off so that i can crop and paste things without the edge being blurred or else i will keep running in to same problem. i even tried rounding the corners with a vector mask and the edges were still blurred. i just gotta find this setting...

okay, let's say you want to make an image that is 200x200 pixels.

step 1. start with a file that is 300x300 pixels (I like to have room to work)

step 2. add guides to create your 200x200 pixel space

step 3. now select ROUNDED RECTANGLE TOOL/ using the FILL PIXELS type with the Anti-Aliasing UNCHECKED.

step 4. create new layer

step 5. place your cursor in the upper left hand corner (I work from top/left to bottom/right)

step 6. click and drag to the bottom right and you will have the proper style of box.

step 7. select the magic wand tool and click on the rounded rectangle you drew.

step 8. select your picture and copy it to your clipboard

step 9. go back to your rectangle and with the rectangle highlighted use
CTRL + SHFT + V to paste the image WITHIN the bounding box. (It can now NOT come outside the box).

step 10. select CTRL + T and hold down the shift key to keep the sizing correct and resize the image to the size you want.

step 11. combine the rectangle layer and the picture layer and you now have your image.

step 12. with the picture layer in use ... CTRL + A to select all and then CTRL + C to copy and then CTRL + N for new and then make sure the NEUTRAL BACKGROUND is selected and then CTRL + V to paste and you should have what you're looking for.

Let me know if you have problems.
