Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could help,

I'm an illustrator and only really just started using Photoshop for anything past basic colouring because I usually prefer vector lines and only just brought a tablet.

When I start a new picture in photoshop it's always the same set up for it, 1500x1000 and 150 dpi, It's a good middle ground for me and the workspace is always easily expandable. That's all fine.

My problem,

Is the new document itself, I usually get so carried away with what ever I'm thinking at the time I forget to reset the BG layer and never start a new transparent one to work on, I always just end up drawing half the construction onto the background layer which I don't want to do.

I would like

To know if anyone knows if I can set PS to start a new document with a one white layer and a blank layer to work on straight from the word go. My dad mentioned that once upon a time he just replaced a temp file somewhere and it changed what I was looking for, But it's been a handful of years since he had to use photoshop in such a way and doesn't quite remember.

M0man,
Hehe .... forgetting stuff .... now ... that's my area of expertise.

What I suggest is that you create a starting image with the background color you want and the size you want and then immediately create a new layer.

That will give you the image you need .... then save it to your desktop as 'STARTING TEMPLATE' or something else you might remember and when you are ready to start a drawing you open this file and when you get to a saving point, save it as whatever you are naming your illustration and then continue on.

This leaves you a starting template ALWAYS on your desktop EXACTLY as you need it each and every time.

Hope this helped!
